Treaty Gateway Mapper
The Treaty Gateway Mapper is an experimental tool for exploring ASEAN-related treaties and agreements and screening how their dispute-settlement provisions may interact with mediation, including possible referral to the International Organization for Mediation (IOMed).
It presents treaty relationships, dispute tracks, mediation classifications, consent status, and supporting sources through an interactive map, comparison matrix, and searchable register. The tool is designed to help users identify the further legal analysis and agreement that may be required before a particular dispute can be referred to IOMed.
What the tool can help identify
- treaty relationships involving Indonesia, ASEAN instruments, and selected bilateral or multilateral agreements
- provisions concerning negotiation, consultation, good offices, conciliation, mediation, and other forms of dispute resolution
- whether an instrument names IOMed, identifies another mechanism, permits mediation without naming a provider, or contains no reviewed mediation pathway
- the relationship of the relevant parties to IOMed, considered separately from treaty language and case-specific consent
- whether further mutual agreement, a submission agreement, or another legal gateway may be required
- source provenance, review status, procedural constraints, and issues requiring verification against authoritative texts
